Netball Tournament Draws 500 Participants

The Annual Omugo Netball Tournament once again brought together women and girls from across Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom for a celebration of sports, education, and advocacy.

Tournament Highlights

This year's tournament featured over 500 participants representing: - Primary schools from all 8 districts - Secondary schools and tertiary institutions - Women's groups and community clubs

More Than Just Sports

Under the theme "Advancing the Glory of Women & Girls in Bunyoro through Sports," the tournament served as a platform for:

  • Sensitization messages: on health, education, and rights
  • Career guidance talks: from professionals and leaders
  • Talent identification: for promising athletes
  • Community building: among women across districts

The Queen's Message

Her Royal Highness, The Omugo of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom, Queen Margaret Karunga Adyeeri, addressed participants emphasizing the importance of education and self-worth for women and girls. She encouraged young players to stay in school and pursue their dreams.

District Representation

Teams competed from Hoima, Masindi, Kibaale, Buliisa, Kikuube, Kagadi, Kakumiro, and Kiryandongo districts, making it truly a kingdom-wide event.

The tournament continues to grow each year, becoming one of the most anticipated events in the Bunyoro calendar.
