The Office of Omugo
Founded by Her Royal Highness Queen Margaret Karunga Adyeeri, the Omugo Development Foundation harnesses cultural heritage to transform lives across Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom.
Empowering Through Cultural Heritage
The Omugo Development Foundation (ODF) operates under the patronage of the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom. As the Office of the Queen Mother, we advocate for the people—particularly women, children, and youth—with a mission to improve their quality of life.
ODF was established to address the pressing challenges facing our communities: extreme poverty, gender-based violence, high school drop-out rates, and limited access to healthcare. We believe that by harnessing our rich cultural heritage and traditional values, we can create sustainable change.
Our approach combines the wisdom of traditional institutions with modern development practices. Through programs like Isenkati Oraha! and Enkande Youth Camps, we revive positive cultural practices that guide and mentor the next generation.

The Omugo of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom
Her Royal Highness Queen Margaret Karunga Adyeeri serves as the Omugo (Queen Mother) of the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom, one of the oldest and most respected kingdoms in East Africa.
As Omugo, she holds a sacred responsibility to advocate for the welfare of women, children, and youth throughout the kingdom. She founded the Omugo Development Foundation as a vehicle to fulfill this responsibility and create lasting change in communities across Bunyoro.
Under her leadership, ODF has grown from a small initiative to a comprehensive development organization reaching over 15,000 lives across 8 districts.
