The Omugo Development Foundation successfully held its third annual Regional Health Camp in Kakumiro District in May 2024, extending free health services to over 3,000 community members.

Free Medical Services Provided

The community was provided with comprehensive free medical consultation services including:

  • Cancer Screening: Cervical, prostate, and breast cancer screenings
  • Dental Care: Free dental consultations and basic treatments
  • Eye Care: Vision testing and eyecare services
  • HIV/AIDS Testing: Testing and counselling services
  • Blood Donation: Community blood donation drive in partnership with Uganda Blood Transfusion Services
  • Fistula Awareness: Education and referrals for affected women

Community Impact

This year's health camp was particularly significant as it focused on reaching the most underserved communities in Kakumiro District. Many residents traveled from distant villages to access these free services, some receiving medical attention for the first time in years.

Partnerships

The event was made possible through partnerships with Uganda Red Cross Society, Marie Stopes Uganda, Reproductive Health Uganda, and local district health authorities. The Omugo, HRH Queen Margaret Karunga Adyeeri, personally attended the event, encouraging community members to prioritize their health.

The success of this camp reinforces ODF's commitment to extending health services to local communities across all 8 districts of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom.
