Identifying Needs of the Orphans

Supporting orphans within communities with education, healthcare, and opportunities for a better future.

About This Program

There are thousands of Orphans in Hoima alone and even more in all Bunyoro region. Most of these receive some support and funding from different stakeholders including the church, charity organizations, and individual donors. Statistics show that a bigger percentage of orphans have not been identified and taken on by the above institutions and live within the communities unattended and vulnerable.

Due to the unpredictable and uncontrollable event of death, our communities are filled with helpless, vulnerable orphans who face many challenges like dropping out of school, mistreatment/violation of their rights, neglect, forced marriage, sexual harassment and abuse, cultural degradation etc. This has led to a setback in their development and contribution to the nation's development.

ODF identifies Orphans within the communities (that have no opportunity to be in funded institutions), identifies their needs, integrates them, provides nurturing and guidance, awareness and sensitization, and scouts for opportunities in education, health, career and rehabilitation in partnership with other stakeholders with the objective of restoring their dignity and livelihood.
